    Daniel Quinn. His books include Ishmael, My Ishmael,The story of B, Providence, & Beyond Civilization. For the most part, they're about an outsiders view of the creation, spread, and continuation of modern society. They're fascinating & I highly recommend them all. If you don't find them "life changing", they'll sure make you look at the world we're in much differently.
